Confused Sims 2 shuts down

Hey there, this is my problem: i used to have the sims 2 with all expansions, it worked perfectly until i had to erase everything in the computer because of a virus, got read of it, installed everything properly including the game again. The thing is, after the game starts, i can only play 1 min or so and then the computer shuts down; although is weird, because it looks like only the monitor is off and the game keeps playing, but i checked and is not a monitor issue.
This also happened when i wasn't playing the game, when i was just in the internet and stuff, but that solved itself (no idea how), and now it just happens with the sims.
Any idea of what's the problem and how to solve it? This is driving me crazy!! Thank u.

Re: Sims 2 shuts down

Make sure you have all drivers up-to-date. Most people forget to install drivers after a clean install of windows. If they dont then your pc is prone to crashes and errors. Use some of my sig links to get drivers.
And plz post your PC specs if you need help obtaining your Motherboard drivers.
