Question Gaming CPU problam

You've probably heard of this before, but i got a major cpu/gaming problam!

I Upgraded my PC recently, and some games just won't work on it!
I got the game Stranglehold, i press the icon ready to play, the game starts and in the Midway logo in the start it's just stops!, another few seconds it gets bright black and i cant do nothing, the next time i tryed to run the game i opened the task manger, and saw that the game takes 100% of my cpu!!
the same goes for Unreal Tounament 3, but it wont even show the Midway logo, just go bright black right away.

My PC-
Windows XP Professional SP2
1024MB RAM
Leadtek Winfast 8600GT 256MB
DirectX 10
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.66
S-Series GA-945GCMX-S2 Motherboard

HELP!!!

Re: Gaming CPU problam

have you tried to run the game in compatibility mode? right-click on the game .exe and choose properties. then the compatibility tab, click the box for running in compatibility mode. Try NT first. If that doesn't work try the others. This may fix the problem.

Re: Gaming CPU problam

Hmmm.... these are definitely not the minimum, these are-
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
* 2.0+ GHz Single Core Processor
* 512 Mbytes of System RAM
* NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
* 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

any way... i was able to load the game with changing a line in UTEngine.ini, "bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True" (i later found out that the problem was with kernel32.dll)
it fixed the problem, i started playing and at one of the maps.. it goes "UT3 has encounterd an error.."(or something like that) i look at the details, and it says the exact same problem! a crash via the freaking kernel32.dll!!!! i saw that problem alot over the net.... so i know its not just my computer, and again, HELP!

Re: Gaming CPU problam

I actually just read a gamespot article on the performance of Unreal tournament with various settings and hardware. The game ran the exact same on xp with 1 GB, 2GB, and 3GB of RAM. So I don't think it's the RAM.
