BF2 and BF2142 crash in middle of game

Hey everyone I've moved back onto windows Xp from ubuntu 7.10(big mistake windows xp is slow as hell)

I can play the game properly it just crashes at random thoughout the game

I've tried

Reinstalling
Updating
etc...

Still no luck i dought it would be the nvidia drivers but i will update the drivers to the latest ones later but is there any other suggestiosn before i install the drivers?.

I would say you are correct. Updating the video drivers would be the place to start. I have had a game crash on me before because the video drivers were not updated.

updating drivers can help.id say go get the newest nvidia drivers out.

I found, when i was an avid player of BF2, that PunkBuster is an almighty PITA

If a gfx driver update doesn't work then i'd look at PunkBuster next.

It's worth mentioning that when i had one problem with BF2 among the many others, it was driver related and no set of drivers would allow me to play except the most recent Beta set, so they're always worth a try.
