"cannot display this video mode"

someone PLEASE help!!

ive just installed battlefield 2142.
as soon as i run it, i get the error message:

"cannot display this video mode".

how the hell do i change the in game resolution, if i cant see the game screen???

i have updates all drivers etc, and am running a radion x850 xt.

any help would be fantastic

well first of all you need to locate it.most likely it will open with notepad,or wordpad.then just scroll down it till you see the resolution numbers.then its a simple matter of changing them.

yeah, the config file will be my first option as well...

Otherwise, if you have onboard display, then you could connect that and see if it goes into the game and then change the resolution.
