Halo 2 on Vista

Hello, I recently got Halo 2 for Vista, and was wondering why the performance is not consistent. My specs are listed below, and I thought that was enough to make it not lag at all. Is it Vista or what?

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

Your system is great for Vista.. Problem could lie in the Graphic Drivers.. As Vista and the Nvidia drivers are quite new there are still lots of bugs to sort out. Most of them performance related. Follow my Nvidia link in my sig to get the latest updated drivers. Also search for an official Halo2 patch.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

Ya I was reading a ZDNet review on Halo 2, and the biggest flaw was performance issues. Halo 2, even on the most powerful PC's, still lags sometimes reaching single digit Framerates. I am disappointed at Microsoft and Nvidia for not working together to create optimal drivers. I am also dissatisfied at Vista for its gaming performance as of now. I hope to see in the future Vista will become the main gaming OS as it does wield Direct X 10. Thanks for your reply :)

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

ya there have been a few bugs in the 320mb models, but apparently its all fixable by drivers. So we have to wait for nvidia to release a decent driver set.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

also if you reduce the resolution a bit that may help as well.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

I am using the most up to date drivers on the website. The release date was July 26/2007 for them.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

Ive got many games running under Vista x64. If i where to run them under XP i would be getting 120fps more. Thats how underdeveloped the drivers are.. But like all thing new most the time their crap.. I'd advise anyone who is thinking of getting Vista for gaming dont there are over 1000bugs in the Nvidia drivers to sort out as roomer has it.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

there are 1000's of code errors in vista for sure.service pack1 for vista is supposed to fix most if not all of them.i guess we will know for sure later this year when they release sp1.

Re: Halo 2 on Vista

Ya I cant wait until SP1 is released. There are so many flaws in the Vista operating system. Once they complete the release of smart compliance for the gaming sector of Vista, everything will be good :) Especially with DX10, Vista better live up to its name :)
