[SOLVED] Civilization 4 - Setup.exe - HELP!!!

I think I already posted this in the wrong place and I can't find it anymore, sorry, anyway I'll paste what I wrote before since I always copy stuff before sending incase I lose it if an error happens. Thank you, here is what I posted before:

I'm new so I'm very sorry if i posted this wrong or something, I've been going round in circles on this site.

If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it:

I have a game, I'm not sure if this site covers games but it's not the game itself with the problem, when I try to run the game, (it is called civilization IV,) nothing happens at all, it seems to be fine, it says "play -- read me -- exit," all options work fine exept for play, when I press play nothing happens. I think this could be because I was fiddling about and deleting some things by right clicking start and going on "explore all users," I wanted to uninstall the game and then reinstall it so I must have just deleted it via "explore all users," when I try to uninstall the game via the control panels "add or remove programs," a box pops up saying "setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close," etc. I'm not very good when it comes to technical stuff on computers and this has been buging me for a while now, I even tried to restore my computer to before I installed the game but it won't go that far back.

I just remembered, I thought I'd mention that the game works fine on other cmputers, it's not a game problem, it's just deleting any trace of the game on my computer so I can reinstall it.

I would greatly appreciate any help, thank you very much for reading and I will be able to provide any additional information you need if I can.

Have you tried reinstalling the game with it as it is now? If you tell it to install to the same folder as before it should overwrite/replace any files that are damaged or missing, you should then be able to uninstall the game as normal and then do a clean install. Quite a lengthy way of doing it i know, but it tends to always work.

Thanks for the tip, I thought of that but when I put the CD in, since it's already installed, it dosn't give the option to install it and I don't know how else I can do it. I don't realy care how long it takes to do but I don't know how.

Woo hoo! I don't know how to put resolved next to my title, but I managed to open civilization via my computer and ran setup.exe, the comment left by someone was basicaly what led to me trying that so
