Help please. Thank you.

I'm new so I'm very sorry if i posted this wrong or something, I've been going round in circles on this site.

If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it:

I have a game, I'm not sure if this site covers games but it's not the game itself with the problem, when I try to run the game, (it is called civilization IV,) nothing happens at all, it seems to be fine, it says "play -- read me -- exit," all options work fine exept for play, when I press play nothing happens. I think this could be because I was fiddling about and deleting some things by right clicking start and going on "explore all users," I wanted to uninstall the game and then reinstall it so I must have just deleted it via "explore all users," when I try to uninstall the game via the control panels "add or remove programs," a box pops up saying "setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close," etc. I'm not very good when it comes to technical stuff on computers and this has been buging me for a while now, I even tried to restore my computer to before I installed the game but it won't go that far back.

I just remembered, I thought I'd mention that the game works fine on other cmputers, it's not a game problem, it's just deleting any trace of the game on my computer so I can reinstall it.

I would greatly appreciate any help, thank you very much for reading and I will be able to provide any additional information you need if I can.

Re: Help please. Thank you.

Lots of software will write hidden stuff on the computer in order to make sure it is legitimate and not pirated. The only way around it is to re-install the operating system from a backup you make (which you should do before every major software install).

Any software that will not un-install is a sign that this needs to be done. If it happens again (won't un-install) then stay away from that version of the program or wait until the program bugs are fixed.

System Restore is nice, but as you see, it only goes so far back because there is only x amount of space dedicated to that task. Making a deliberate, dedicated backup copy (restore disk on CD/DVD/other media) is not an option, it is a requirement to safeguard the money you spent.

Re: Help please. Thank you.

another possibility may be to download "MyUninstaller", it worked for me when I couldn't uninstall something. Or even Hijack This should work?
