Question [SOLVED] Half-Life 2 problems

Ok I've needed help for a long time but here it goes; All of the game that use the source engine dont work when i try to run the game on steam it goes preparing
Half-Life 2..... the that screen goes away and the hourglass next to the mouse shows up the dissapears and the program never runs at all ive tried putting -dxlevel 90 but it was a no-go so i am in need of assisstence PLEASSE:

Then reinstall them and try again.

I didnt say delete the steam folder maybe try reading what i said first would be helpful
in certain cases the folders in steamapps or the .gcf themselves get corrupt however you seem to know what your doing have a nice day

well viruses will definetly cause problems with games.that is something you should do on a regular basis.scan for viruses,and spyware a clean system is a happy system.

if your problem is fixed i will mark the thread solved.
