3dmark

my 3dmark 06 skips and goes slow no matter what i do. even if i turn the resolution all the way down to 320x200 it still skips and wont play smooth. so i was thinking its probly the ram or processor then. but the processor doesnt even go past 50% and the ram isnt at its max either. i shud have plenty of power to run it smooth but dont know whats wrong.

Re: 3dmark

thats just the thing, i ran it on 320x200 with no extra visual effects and it goes the same speed as when its on 1024x768 with the extra effects. the same speed but still glitches. all my other games i can run at full without them glitching up. i was thinking could the mhz of my ram be slowing it down?

Re: 3dmark

Hi,

3DMark06 requires a minimum of 1GB of RAM to run - I'd say that's your issue, since you only have 768MB. Upgrading to 1GB or more should fix the problem.

Re: 3dmark

ok i dont think this program is working, it shows the cpu at 170*F then itll be 30 ,then 100, then 80. also its showing the 12v is at 10.40v. i think thats a broken sensor because i dont think it would even run that low. but anyway here the idle and the load.

Re: 3dmark

Hi,

Download Everest (in my signature) and check the temps and voltages with that (under Computer -> Sensor). If the +12V rail really is at 10.40V (which can happen), then that is your problem, as it means the power supply is underpowering the graphics card.

Re: 3dmark

yea i have everest. it also says 10.40v. i can run games like DiRt and comand and conquer 3 on full settings, i can even play halo2 on the highest setting which is 1920x1200. if my power supply can power my games and ati demos and such, why cant it power 3dmark on 320x200?

Re: 3dmark

It may just be that 3DMark is the one thing the problems show up in. Underpowered video cards can run games fine for a while, but the eventual result is a dead video card. Since the video card isn't the only thing which runs off the +12V rail, you're also going to end up with other dead components.

The fact that both Everest and SensorsView show the +12V rail at 10.40V means they are reading it correctly. If you want a third check, you could buy a power supply tester, but I don't think that's necessary.

If the power supply is under warranty, send it back to get it fixed or replaced. If it's not under warranty any more, you'll need to buy a new one. Looking at your specs, I highly recommend that if you do buy a new one, you get a 550W or higher, as that's really what you should be running that system on. 430W is a bit low for your specs.

Re: 3dmark

ok , i got the new motherboard. and i had to do a bit of modding to get it to fit in the case becasue its huge. and i installed the 2600xt. 3dmark does work now and i got a score of about 4500. it could do better. it also plays pretty smooth

my 12v is now at 11.40v. which is higher but i do agree i need a new power supply. i do like the one you showed me, those antec trios are great. the one i have now is an antec trio and has served me well. but i cant dump 130$ on a power supply. because i spent it on the video card lol. so i was wondering if you could find a powersupply thats still good but alot cheaper, at least half the price. i saw this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817163018

its a deamon just like my case, it has same paint and fans as my case, has all the hookups i need, and should be powerfull enouph. what do you think?
