Confused [SOLVED] Two Stracraft (BW) Problems

Just got a fresh copy of SC with expansion today, need to warm up for SC II and get into the stuff. I put in the CD, install the game, install the expansion and then try to open the game... it works fine except the graphics are 100 % messed up. They look completely overcontrasted and old 1 bit Windows 3.11 colour'ish like. Just if its any help, I've had the same kind of graphical problem in the old CNC Red Alert as well, Tiberium Sun and anything after Red Alert 1 works fine though. Attached a screenshot.

Now, after doing that I tried running in compatibility with both Windows 95 and 98, then browsed google for some eventual solutions and couldnt find any. Then, just to be sure, I downloaded the latest patch and tested the game. Now I got my second error which I havent been able to fix so far either. I now cant start the game without a crack, it keeps telling me the Data File error and I try both the Brood War and the original CD but they both dont work. Then, I've reinstalled twice and rebooted as well to see if it works. Nothing on both issues.

My stats are entered in my profile, please say if I need to attach a DXdiag. Finally, just to add I can run any newer game perfectly fine. Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2+expansion, Command and Conquer 3, World in Conflict Beta, Medieval II Total War etc. etc. I use DirectX 9c, but surely I dont have to degrade to DirectX 5 just to play SC? :/

Re: Two Stracraft (BW) Problems

I'm running at 1280x1024 myself, but the game has a definite resolution of 640x..something.

Yeah its a no cd crack, thought it would automatically delete itself though as its a replacement of a game core file with the same name. Replacing it with the old one did it though :D. Thanks, thats one down.

Re: Two Stracraft (BW) Problems

Yay... it works after I reinstalled and watched all the intro movies. That was the thing messing it all up aparrently, weird. Guess I'm not the patient type in this case, just wanna play.

This can be locked now btw.

Re: [SOLVED] Two Stracraft (BW) Problems

I know my way around things, and use the proper sites. Also use Nod32 and Zonealarm, so I'm covered incase its malware.
