Rise of Legends frame skip/stutter

Hi guys,

I seem to be experiencing a rather odd "camera-jump" or "stutter" with Rise of Legends. As a pan around the map with my mouse, the camera seems to 'jump' or 'twitter' a bit, making for a somewhat distracting experience.

It’s kind of subtle, but definitely there. This seems to occur regardless of resolution or in-game “eye-candy” settings. My drivers for video and sound are up to date. In addition, i've updated ROL to the latest version via the automatic game updater.

As requested, I’ve gone though all of the initial troubleshooting steps here:

I've accessed the following MS support pages so far:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917716/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917715/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815069/

My system specs are as follows:

Antec P180
AMD Athlon 64 FX-55
Thermalright XP-90 Heatsink
Thermaltake Silentcat 90mm cooling fan
Arctic Silver 5
Asus A8N-SLI Premium ATX
2gb Corsair XMS DDR-4000 (1gb x2)
Antec NeoPower 480watt
EVGA Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX acs
Sony Dru-720a DVD+/-RW
Western Digital WD3200KS
WD Caviar SE16 250gb
X-Fi extreme-music
Windows XP Professional
Apple Cinema Display 23" via DVI/ADC adapter

Link to .WMV movies I made demonstrating the problem. Each movie is around 1mb in size and less than 10 seconds in length.

The third movie seems to demonstrate the problem best. Notice how the screen ‘jumps’ or ‘stutters’ momentarily as I scroll down and then to the left.

Re: Rise of Legends frame skip/stutter

could this be a bug with the game itself?

Re: Rise of Legends frame skip/stutter

Hm, I wonder.

Lately I've begun to think along those lines myself. At the time I didn't have any other game to compare it with, but today, on a whim, I picked up Rise of Nations, the precursor to Rise of Legends.

I'm pleased to report that RON ran very smooth, with nary a hitch in frame rate.(I left everything as-is after installation, no adjustments to the resolution or eye-candy) and it was a big relief to get that old smoothness back.

It also helped me to confirm that I wasn't just "seeing things" with Rise of Legends.

I wish I had another PC to try Rise of Legends on, but in the meantime, i'm definitely open to any suggestions you guys might have.

Re: Rise of Legends frame skip/stutter

I think I'm getting the same problem,(your link to your movies are dead)
But even the startup movie jerks on my one and when scrolling the map it stutters.
I also tryed all the settings which didn't help.

My system
Vista 32bit
4gig ddr2 800
P5N-E-Sli
8600GT
2x 80gig HDD's Raided (tryed installed on this)
1x 250gig HDD Not Raided (also try installed on this)

Its weird my wife has basically the same system But a didn't motherboard and it runs great

I was thinking it was the nvidia chipset on my P5N-E-sli because the wife's P5K have a intel chipset

what nvidia chipset has yours got on it ? my one have the 650i
