[SOLVED] Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

Hey I just got a new monitor today, its a 19" LCD its really great, but I noticed today, when I was playing Lord of the Rings Online, when I looked at the night sky there was these little thin green lines waving around. And when I jump onto City of Villains, same thing. Against dark backgrounds, I get this problem. I am thinking its a videocard problem, and if so, is this a good card? And how do I know if my computer can run it without melting to a crisp? Heh, thanks in advance. http://shop2.outpost.com/%7Bx8ZZp4M8s+1wBy9lFc409Q**.node3%7D/product/5050165;jsessionid=x8ZZp4M8s+1wBy9lFc409Q**.node3?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Re: Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

never happened before no. But I did a lot of research and talked to people about this monitor before I got it, I should be able to have my games on it playing perfect with no problem. This is the link to it.

Re: Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

I wouldn't doubt if I got a defective one. Thats always my luck, the rest of the game looks great, and the lines aren't extremely obvious, just a little noticeable. For example, when I run around Bree, its a huge upgrade from my old monitor, and it looks great. Just around darker things its a little different. Anyways, I have a Radeon 9600 with 128MB.

Re: Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

Oh the old resolution? Ehh...I can't exactly remember...about 1280x720 I believe. And now I play in what I was told to by the clerk at Fry's, he said, adjust your screen and play in 1440x900 now. It might be my card, ive had this one for awhile. Last time I thought of getting a card people said "Oh I don't know if your computer could handle it." so I just didn't worry about it. But now I say "new monitor? Hey why not go a little bit farther?"

Re: Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

try this drop the resolution down to 1280x768.see if the problem goes away.it very well could be the video card.128mb is awefully low memory for that resolution 1440x900 that is.

Re: Videocard and monitor problems with my games.

Im playing LoTRO now, and I just did that, and it did fix the problem with the sky, yet now the text is all scrunched together. So if I want to stick to 1440x900, I need to get a better card? And if so, would you suggest the one I posted about above?
