[SOLVED] Cannot connect to eso...

yes i'm trying to play my game "age of mythology " the titans expansion, and just recently, today, i've gotten the message, "make sure you are connected to the internet and try again, please make sure you can connect to www.eso.com" (it wasn't exactly like that, but briefly) does this mean eso sever is down? or is it with my computer?

Re: Cannot connect to eso...

well, i've figured out over time, and its kinda what my friend is doing too, cause u REALLY only get a virus or spyware adware etc if u download whatever, without paying attention, but if your carefull u can avoid that, also besides that firewall is kinda just a memory glogger, and my computer is doing fine so yeah :P

Re: Cannot connect to eso...

Wrong, watching what you download is one part of it. But a firewall is mainly used to scan Incoming and outgoing data, for example a Hacker will scan for open ports (a computer without a firewall), and the they will make a connection to the computer, and either
A) steal all your personal information
B)Infect it so badly with Viruses
C)Dump illagal files on there, like Games, movies, Songs etc and link them up to P2P sites/programs , then that will fill up your hardrive, also use up your bandwidth. And leave you more open to more hackers getting in.
D) Take complete control of your machine
E)Use your computer to hack a bank or something then it would be traced back to you.

Not having a firewall is dangerous, and I highly recommend you enabling it again.

It is good that your computer is running fine.

COMODO is not actually resource heavy I find it very light, i personally use it.

Sorry if this comes out in an attacking way, I just dont want your computer to get messed up.

Do you use an Antivirus?

Re: Cannot connect to eso...

Well, first of all doesn't router block outgoing trafic? since router has a firewall too..., if i had wireless i would be a lot more careful, but i just dont think firewall is very usefull, yeah people scan for ports, i've done it plenty of times, but i've never been hacked, or anything just a few times i've downloaded something wrong, but sometimes the computer might have symptons of it being infected, o well back to eso problem :P

I'm using avast, i dont shut it off, i keep it updated whenever there is an update needed. and yeah.

But i'm thinking eso sever is down, cause this has never happened to me before.
Except i tried and google eso, to see sever status, but i cant find it :S
