Computer locks up sometimes BSOD'S on me when playing games

Hi!

I have been having this problem forever and Its just terrible I hate it! It happens to whatever game I play (except sims 2) and sometimes happens even out of games when im just using msn or something.

My computer completely locks up or freezes, or it sends me to the blue screen of death. I have to restart. I can't do anything, even the keyboard is locked. What do I do? I'm not sure if its a graphics card problem but I looked all over the internet and it seems to link to that. I am getting a new card its a ati radeon X1650 Pro do you think this will fix the problem? If it doesn't I just dont know what else I can try.

Re: Computer locks up sometimes BSOD'S on me when playing games

Hi,

The next time you get the blue screen, copy down the message and post it here, so we can see what the problem is.

Download Everest and SensorsView (in my signature), and check your voltages and temperatures with them. Post all that info here for us. Make sure you check them straight after the computer has started, and then again after playing games for a while, and post both sets of info.

Also, please click "Posting System Specs" in my signature, and follow the instructions to post your full specs for us, so we know what system we're dealing with.

Re: Computer locks up sometimes BSOD'S on me when playing games

Driver_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and at the bottom a stop error wth lots of zero's I'll type them all out just incase they mean something to anyone

STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000000, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

THE END.

Keep in mind I do not think that that is the onlyerror I have seen, maybe me games lock up due to a number of things, anyone else have any ideas? Please help this is killing me

System Specs:

Power Supply - ATX 12V 430 Watts

Motherboard – Gigabyte model: GA-K8NF-9 Chipset: nvida nforce4 & ultra mcp

Processor – amd athlon™ 64

CPU – (custom built) 2.01 (GHz).

RAM – 1gig of ddr-sdram

Video Card(s) – Nvidia geforce 6600 gt

Hard Drive(s) – Seagate 250 gig, seagate 40 gig (both type ata)

Operating System - Windows XP Pro

The heat after starting up is about:

CPU: 70 degrees
Syx: 26
Aux: 29
Hd0: 35
Hd1: 38

After playing the sims for about an hour of constant checking all the tempretures stayed about the same. Sometimes the cpu was 71 degrees. However sims 2 was the only game I could check with, anything locks up and I am forced to restart so I can’t check the temperatures. Please help!

There's another thread for this error in hardware.
