EEK! Quake III won't upgrade on Vista x64.

Quake III runs like a dream on Vista Ultimate 64, until I try to install the upgrade on id's website. If I try to run the program with the upgrade installed, it closes and shows the error "User Interface is version 4, expected 3"

Would it help if I posted the entire length of the Quake console's errors? I don't want to clog up the message boards with it if it's unnessecary.
Thanks in advance !

It's saying that it doesn't recognize your OS.

Why did it suddenly decide to not recognize my OS after I installed the point release?...

Re: Quake III won't upgrade on Vista x64.

Did you Google the error message for possible answers? The first hit I got was http://www.gamehourz.com/User-Interf...ict133403.html

This means that you're trying to load an older version of the ui.qvm or .dll than the executable was made to work with.

Some mods are made for older q3 versions than q3 1.32, that may be one cause of this error. I don't know when the switch from 3 to 4 happened. You need to use an older quake3.exe if you want to run mods that are not updated to work with the latest q3 versions. Just rename it so you can have several versions of the file.
Other answers to your question mention No-CD patches affecting the upgrade.
