Childrens games running from internal HDD
This is such a minor problem, I am embarrassed to post it here. My daughter (age 4) has a passed down e-machine to play her games on. Until now most of her games have been downloaded or run from online sites, like Disney. However as she has gotten better at them I purchased a few for her, the problem is that the games (all of them) require the cd to be in the drive in order for her to play them. This is a problem for a 4 year old. They will be lost or destroyed in about a week, or every time she wants to switch between games I will need to do it for her (about every 2 minutes). The other issue is she might be too rough with the dvd drive on the computer. I called one of the manufactures (Jump Start) and was advised that this is the only way to run the game. I find that very hard to believe. In short is there a way to run these games without the cd being in the drive? Can I backup the software up to the HDD and run the game from there? She really enjoys them but they will be history in a week and both of us will be peeved. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Childrens games running from internal HDD
We have machines here at the library I work at that are loaded with nothing but childrens' educational games. They ALL run directly from the HDD of the computers. I'd double-check with the manufacturers on what they told you.

If you have a CD burner, make a few backup copies of the games CDs before they get too scratched.

Re: Childrens games running from internal HDD
Thanks for the advice. I will make a couple of backup copies before they get ruined. I called the manufacturer again on the outside chance that may-be I misunderstood. No luck, they again advised me that I needed to have the cd in the drive. This just doesn't make sense to me. It's like years ago when you had to load the operating system everytime you used the computer. Any ideas?
