Running games that need d3dx9_27.dll on Vista
I don't know what to do. I'm trying to run Empire at War on Vista and it needs Direct X9.0c, specifically the d3dx9_27.dll.
I dont't want to install DirectX 9 because 10 is better for gaming, right? Plus it's newer, and I have some Vista-supported games. I downloaded the dll file and put it in the Empire at War directory but it still doesn't find it, and I'm worried about dropping it into the Vista directory. What should I do? |

Re: Running games that need d3dx9_27.dll on Vista
Vista uses DirectX 10, and has some support for DirectX 9 titles. Unfortunately you'll need to wait for a patch from the game developer.

Re: Running games that need d3dx9_27.dll on Vista
Hi,
Try putting this file in the System32 folder. Don't know if its the same in vista but in xp its located C:\WINDOWS\system32 Just make sure you don't overwrite anything. DX10 will provide no performance or quality improvements over DX9 in DX9 games (not yet anyway)
