WoW low comp specs

Well after a while i've decided to start WoW again. I have a very bad computer, but i don't have any money and I cant get a job yet.

Ram; 480 mb
GfX card; 32mb Sis mirage graphics
everything else is pretty ok

im 30 mb under the min. req. for Wow in my ram. and my grapics card is on the line but is there anything I can do to smooth the game out, my graphics options are all set to low, played in a window and in fullscreen but it's still pretty laggy, I usually have the camera overhead only drawing the ground, characters graphics but it's still laggy that way, is there anything i can do with basically no money. I tried updating my card drivers but it ended up in the card failing and having to use safe mode to fix it. Anyone know anything?

Re: WoW low comp specs

Unfortunately not. I have WoW running on a dual Pentium 3 with just 512 RAM and a GeForce4 Ti4600. Pretty choppy with most settings turned down.

Re: WoW low comp specs

I found my ram is actually 512, but my onboard graphics takes 32mb of that~ would there bea way to give it more ram from that remaining 480? I bought 512 more ram , is this the right choice rather than a new card/

Yea more RAM should smooth it out to low lag ammounts. Graphics cards really just make things "pretty" in my oppinion. But dude you can buy a GFX Card for cheap. I know the ATI Radeon 9250 in my old computer ran WoW pretty decently, with decent visuals, and you can get one for like $60.00 now.

Re: WoW low comp specs

well i got the ram and now have 992MB ram, but i have only tried Guildwars and Morrowind both on lowest req's and there doesn't seem to be a lot of change. I have a laptop with a 64mb card, could i take that one and switch the two?

Re: WoW low comp specs

Laptop and desktop hardware isn't interchangable. I'd just bite the bullet and get a new card.

Re: WoW low comp specs

Its easy enough to run this smoothly on this spec system if you dont mind losing some graphics in game detail.

Reduce all of your video options including terrain distance.
Also remove all tick box's for items such as corpse glow.....

Additionally and normally people forget this, if you have your sound settings setup in game to produce more dynamic sound this will eat away at your processor.

So drop your video and sound settings down to minimal and don't run windows live messenger in the background while in game :)

Proven to be playable on a system lower spec then yours above.
