Old game freezing comp

Ok, so here is my problem: When I play one text based game from 2000. It requires ~133mhz and 16mb memory, I have 1gb ram and +3ghz. So what is my problem, this other game FREEZES my rs client. I dont know how is it possible, but it just does. Also makes my comp laggy other say, like music repeat itself etc when I play it on a windowed mode. I dont have this problem when I dont have rs open. So, how is that possible a game from 7 years ago which is textbased takes all the power of my computer?

have a run through the follow these steps first link in my sig.have you tried running the compatibility wizard.that game may not be compatible with xp.
