ok here's my problem...i have noticed recently that when im playing a game something in my tower is making a kind of a vibrating noise...i play guild wars, oblivion and fable, they are the only games i have on my computer at the moment, anyway when playing them i get this vibrating noise coming from inside my tower...it only happens when playing games, searching the net and things like that it does'nt happen with...i opened up my tower earlier cleaned all the dust out, cleaned fans checked they were working ok, made sure all screws were on tight and have'nt come loose then tried playing them again but still i have the vibrating noise...anyone have any ideas what this maybe and what i can do to stop it?

Re: Vibrating noise in game?
ok next time you play take your shirt off (so no static) have the case open and put your hand on the graphics and see if the heatsink is vibrating and other areas to but my guess is its the heat sink oh and check the cd/dvd drives
or any speakers

Re: Vibrating noise in game?
Red was spot on with those suggestions. Fans that are wearing may start to buzz at higher speeds. The fans on video cards and CPUs will spin up faster to cool more effectively.

Red: It's just a figure of speech meaning you had the exact idea in mind.

Re: Vibrating noise in game?
If the case has been opened and a new card fitted then it's possible the techs at the computer shop dislodged one of the fans or didn't tighten a screw properly. Did you have this noise problem before sending the computer to be upgraded?
The only way to find the cause is to have the case open while playing a game and try to locate the sound. It could be a fan, hard drive, cd drive, etc.

Re: Vibrating noise in game?
Just examening the fans without power being applied should show any looseness in the fans. A light twist on all the screws with a screwdriver should definitively show which screws may have been loose.

Re: Vibrating noise in game?
i spoke to the guy at the computer shop today and told him about the vibrating noise i was getting whenever i played a game, i told him it's only happened since he put the new graphics card in...he said something about the fan on the graphics card, anyway he took my number, said he would call me tomorrow or the day after and arrange a call out to come look at it
