Game Installed?
Okay so I own one THQ game and have borrowed another from a friend and neither of them work. My computer has plenty of power but the game crashes the entire computer at random points. When I try to reinstall the game the computer acts as if I have yet to install it. What is going on?!?

Re: Game Installed?
Hi EpicHubris. Welcome to TSF.
If you haven't already, run thought the First Steps. Would you be able to give us a bit more information about your computer? Also, which games are you trying to run? Are the crashes just going back to the desktop or is the entire computer shutting down? |

Re: Game Installed?
Pentium 4 processor 3.2 GH
512 Memory 200 MB hard drive Nvidia G-Force 4 6800 graphics card The entire computer crashes and restarts. This also only seems to happen with THQ games which I can't understand. The driver for the graphics card should be up to date and everything else runs very smoothly. The games are Supreme Commander and Warhammer- Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Re: Game Installed?
Which games are you having trouble with? Do they use DirectX or OpenGL?
When it crashes do you get an error message or a blue screen? Post your full system specs. Have you contacted THQ or been to their online support center to see if there are any known problems?

Re: Game Installed?
The game I am working with at the moment is Warhammer 40,000k Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. I have contacted THQ. It uses Direct X 9b. The specs I have posted are the most detailed I can find at the moment. The problem with the game is that when I install it the computer recognizes that it is there, then I try to play the game and about 8 seconds later the computer crashes and when it comes back online, the game is still in the start menu and program files but the computer does not recognize that it is there. I put the CD in and it asks if I want to install the game. WHAT IS GOING ON?!?

Quote:
To see if there are any problems with your DirectX, go to Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab and run the tests. Any errors or messages listed in the Notes box?

Re: Game Installed?
Checked DirectX and everything else, it all works perfectly. As of now the game does not exist on the computer besides an empty folder named Dawn of War with a short-cut to the website for the game. Yesterday when I was playing around with it the game at least had a shortcut on the screen and showed up on the start list.
