Activating the console in Half Life 2 that is modified [RESOLVED]

Hi,
I downloaded and modified HL2 with that humongous Dream Factory mod.
I can't exactly tell which program, STEAM or the HL2 icon now launches my game. I know I used to be able to add -console to the hl2.exe file, but now that doesn't seem to work any more.
What am I doing wrong?

in the options for keyboard, there should be this thing called advanced user. check the box that says command line or something like that. that should enable console. id check it myself, but cant..
