Out of Range [RESOLVED]

I0've had the original Empire Earth for a while now, and it has been working perfectly. however, at one point, I uninstalled it to make space for another game, and upon reinstalling it, It has ceased to work. I go through the usual animations for Sierra and Stainless Steel Studios, but when I reach the point where I should have a menu, My monitor goes black and says "Out of Range!". I don't know much about graphics and I don't want to mess anything up, but whatever I try, I can't get it to work. If anyone knows anything about this, i would appreciate some help. thank you.

Re: Out of Range

Hi, welcome to TSF!
Have you changed any hardware at all since it was last installed?
Try right-clicking on the icon for the game, go to the compatability tab and check the 'Run in 640x480' box. Then try running the game.

Also, try running through the 'Common Game Issues', if you haven't already.

Re: Out of Range

As far as I can remember, the hardware is exactly the same. It's possible that our printer is new, or an external A: drive, but I didn't think that made any difference. I've tried running in 640 x 480, but the problem persists.

Re: Out of Range

The tech support that i recieved from Sierra said:
"This issue may occur if the signal from the video adapter exceeds the scan range of the monitor. The video adapter setting for updating the screen (the refresh rate) is not compatible with the monitor. "
They then went on to advise me to set my refresh rate to the default, but none of the options specifically say 'Default', and i can't remember ever changing the refresh rate up until I was trying to fix the problem. At the moment, the refresh rate is et to 60 herz, with options as high as 180, and two options lower than 60: 47 (mit zeilensprung) and 43 (mit zeilensprung) I translate this into "with line spacing" (my computer is in german). options that are higher than 60 all work, but don't help, but the 47herz and 43 herz options give me the smae message of "out of range".

Re: Out of Range

In control panel. i couldn't get into the game to change the settings before. i have however resolved the issue. The readme file listed the minum requirements, which I was preveously unable to locate. The minimum resolution is 1024 x 768. Now when I want to play the game, I just set the resolution to that. it works fine, and i can change it back afterwards. thanks for the help though.
