Counter Strike Source Bright Props [RESOLVED]

My counter strike source normally runs smoothly, no errors, no problems. But recently, all of a sudden the props and anything not "part" of a map has become bright i.e railings, dumpsters, boxes, cans etc etc..

I have tried many other maps, same results.
I have tried unintalling/re-installing game, same results.
I have uninstalled cleanly old drivers, updated to new same results.
I have tried old drivers (apparently more stable) same results.

I cannot work out what the problem is, I have made no physical changes to my pc, and no software changes.

I did try overclocking my graphics card, but this has happened a while after i reversed the OC changes, so i doubt it has anything to do with it.

every other game I have runs smooth and well, including other source based games. I just dont know what the problem is.

Re: Counter Strike Source Bright Props

Hi,

Could you provide a screenshot of the problem for us, so we can get a better idea of the problem?

Check the detail settings, and try changing a few things around. If you could tell us what settings are at what, that may help also.

Also, run through all the steps under "Common Game Issues" in my signature, and let us know how you go.

Theres a screenshot.

I re installed again, and it seemed to be working (no bright props) but the framerate was very very low. I restarted PC ran it again and bright props were back.

The setting are on high, but I have tried both medium, and as low as possible.

Thats the video stress test, the model shouldnt be white, and again you can see the bright railing.

Re: Counter Strike Source Bright Props

OK, I solved my problem... After starting it up and messing with some settings, I noticed the direct x level was set to 0.9 for some reason. I closed game, started again and it was at 0.7... each time i had bright props.. I forced it to version 9.0 and now it is running smooth, no bright props..no problems what so ever..

thanks for the help anyway, as always its MUCH appreciated....You guys are great :D

oh, pharaoh and ind you 2 probably have the most useful sigs ever in the history of the internet..lol
