My friend gets error when tryign to install game

The application to initialize properly. (0XC0000006) .click OK to terminate the application.

Is this a problem with the disk? Is there a way around? because it is a pretty rare game to find.

Re: My friend gets error when tryign to install game

What game is it? What version of Windows was it designed for? What version of Windows does your friend have?

Have you tried restarting the system and trying again? Have you tried the disc on another computer?

It is Red Alert 2, designed for I think 98 (was released Sept 2000 around there), everyone plays it on WinXP fine (which is what he uses). He hasn't tried testing it on another computer so I'll tell him to do that. He has tried restarting.

Re: My friend gets error when tryign to install game

Red Alert 2 has to be run in compatibility mode for Windows 98, I believe. Open My Computer, right-click on the ROM drive the disc is in, and select Open. Locate the setup .exe file, and right-click it. Select Properties, then Compatibility. Tell it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98, and then click OK. Try it again and see if you have any luck.

Re: My friend gets error when tryign to install game

Is this an original copy of the game or a "copied" copy of the game?

Have you changed the hardware at all since the last time you played it? You may need to run it in compatibility mode to get it to work with the new hardware. New hardware can also stop a game from running entirely. Give it a go and see if it works.

Re: My friend gets error when tryign to install game

if he used to play it on the same computer, and now it wont install again.has the computer been formated since then,if not there might be bad leftover registry entries for the game.open regedit search for entries for the game.you can do this by entering the games title, and manufacturer name into that search, however be carefull.be sure to delete entries that pertain to the game only.messing in the registry can mess the windows up if you delete the wrong thing.
