Optimal Response Time for Monitor? [RESOLVED]

yo,

I'm looking at buying a new monitor and was simply wondering what the "Response Time" should be. The ones I'm looking at are in the 2-5ms range, so will this be ok? Or is there really any noticeable difference?

I play games such as UT2K4 and Guild Wars, if it makes any difference

Thanks!

Re: Optimal Response Time for Monitor?

for gaming i assume 8ms or lower is what most people say is best for gaming.above that you start to get a ghosted image"a blur if you will". mine is 5ms,and i get no ghosting at all.

Re: Optimal Response Time for Monitor?

pharoah is right, anything with 8ms or lower will do. Even 12ms isn't that bad, but 8ms is so cheap these days that it's not an issue.

Re: Optimal Response Time for Monitor?

My preference is CRT for gaming. The size doesn't bother me since I have ample desk space and the lower cost certianly makes me happy. If you do prefer to go LCD, many newer LCDs run at about 5ms response which is nearly indistinguishable from CRT. I've been hearing many good things about Acer's LCDs as of late.

Re: Optimal Response Time for Monitor?

I would stick with 5ms nowadays as they can be found almost everywhere at good prices, like the above one forcifer linked.

Re: Optimal Response Time for Monitor? [RESOLVED]

I have a 22" WideScreen Hi-Def 720p with a 5ms Response, LOVE IT! The computer I made for my Bro is 7ms, and I hardly notice a difference. We play Americas Army. So I agree 8ms or lower (which is standard) these days.
