cant play game? [RESOLVED]

Hi guys
I just installed a NVIDIA GeForce FX5500 AGP video card and it seems to work fine untill I try to play lord of the rings at which point an error messege saying "could not find any compatible direct3D devices with the required capabilities. Make sure you have the current drivers for your video card." pops up.The device manager shows no problems so I have no clue as to what to do next can anyone please advise me?
Thanks in Advance
Henry

Send a message via MSN to Rebellion88
Step 1: I would go to the Nvidia website find your graphics card and down load the latest drivers - http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp go there and enter the required information. Download and Install, and reboot your computer. See if that brings you any luck, if not make sure you have the latest directX 9.0c installed as well. Change the settings in game, if still no luck, you might be able to play the game using openGL instead of directdraw not sure.

Which Lord of the Rings game are you trying to play? If it's one of the newer Lord of the Rings games, the 5500 won't be good enough to run it.

Follow the steps listed under "Common Game Issues" in my signature, and post back with results.

Return the disk for a replacement, as it's obviously damaged (even if not visibly). Glad to hear you got it working - enjoy your game!
