Full Screen applications + 40" widescreen problems

First Sorry if this is in the wrong section and thanks for taking the time to help me out, if atall possible, I brought a new Samsung 40" LCD to play battlefield / world of warcraft / moviews etc etc movies work fine as far as i can tell theres no or very little screen loss, however I am missing about 1cm arround the whole border of the actual game , so with w.o.w. i can just only see the very top of my spells and with battlefield i cant see again 1cm arround the edge, this is also the case with black and white 2 and every game actualy. anyone had the same probl,e and got it sorted out ?

someone said once something about changing value to edit a new resolution from the main exe . using a string but god knows

athlon 2.4ghz , 1gb ram [ddr-pc2700]
BFG Nvidia 7800 GS [XfX Gear] DVI to HDMI Connection
res 1176 x 664 this dont seem to matter when on full screen , so it seems .

literly any suggestions or a link to any infomation would be apprichated.. thanks

My System

What is the native resolution of the LCD (it should say somewhere on the box or in the manual)? Make sure that Windows is running in the same resolution, and then make sure that the games are running in the same resolution. Check the monitor's settings, and make sure you have it in the right mode/setting for your system. You may need to adjust the screen ratio or something.
