Motherboard BIOS
Hi again everyone,
in follow up to my previous help question in topic: http://www.techsupportforum.com/gaming-forum/pc-gaming-support/134706-please-help-purchase-decision.html I was reading a review on my motherboard (ASUS P5B) trying to find out how to flash the bios to a newer version, on this review page (ill try find the link again) it stated that the "out of the box" bios version was .211 and when they flashed it to the then lastest version of .804 it beyond their belief improved their gameplay by up to 20% in games such as Counter Strike & Battlefield 2. After reading this i downloaded the AsusUpdate tool and checked my BIOS verson - it was .211 like the guys from the review had. So i downloaded the latest BIOS update for my P5B from ASUS which is version .908 Beta and reflashed my BIOS through the Asus utility. I thank ran Company Of Heroes - 96 FPS average on the in game performance test... my old rating was between 38 and 41 FPS. Shocked i tested it again... and again.. then rebooted and tested another time... every time i scord in the 90's. My question is will this last? Could the BIOS update really make that big of a difference? I find it hard to believe, im fearing ill start up again soon and itll be back to 40 fps! |

It's very surprising, but it is possible. If the stock BIOS had problems handling certain things, updating the BIOS to fix those could increase performance. How much it increased is surprising, but if that's what happened, then that's what happened. Just go with it and be happy!
