Graphical artifacts/anomalies on Catalst 6.12 drivers

I have a Radeon x1800xt with the Cat. 6.12 drivers installed, and in a few of my games i'm getting artifacts as if the video card was overclocked too much, but my video card isn't overclocke at all. So why am I getting the artifacts?

I did have the Omega drivers installed, and I prefer the Omega to the Catalyst (because Catalyst sucks) but with omega some of my games crash with an "out of memory" error so I can't use them...

There are a few possibilites so we'll take it one step at a time.

Have you tried to re-install the drivers, the thread pharoah pointed you to will show you how to properly remove them before re-installing.

If you have already tried that, please download Everest (link in my sig) and then go to the Computer -> Sensor page and give us a rundown of the temperatures and voltages you see there (particularly the temps for the GPU).

Actually now that I've done some more experimenting, I think the anomalies/artifcats are being caused from my overclocked CPU...

But it isn't overheating, it's stable, and it's only overclocked from 2.6-2.8ghz

Artifacting usually indicates a damaged video card. You can try clocking your CPU back down, but I doubt it will change anything.

Follow Tiber's instructions regarding temperatures and voltages. The video card may have been damaged by overheating or bad voltages. Also, if you can get your hands on another video card, swap it for the one you've got, and run the games. If the problem goes away, you know the video card is damaged.
