NHL 2006 Crashing back to the desktop

I had this problem a year ago...whenever I try to play nhl 2006 I get halfway through a game and it just kicks me back to the desktop, no error msg or nothing. A year ago I got a new video card ATI Radeon 9550 hoping that would fix the problem but nothing. So now after getting a new hard drive and operating system I figured id try again...but still kicking me out.

I DONT GET IT!! Nhl is the only game I play so I dont know if it happens with other games.
my sysytem: Windows XP (legit), 1gb ram, Radeon 9550 video card, direct x9...system is pretty much brand new.

ANY HELP PLEASE

Hi,

Do you have any other graphics-intensive programs, like 3D Mark? If you do, run them, and see if you get the same problem. If not, 3D Mark 03 is available for free download here.

Please read "Posting System Specs" in my signature, and post your full specs for us - be as thorough as you can.

Then, follow these steps:
1. Download and install the latest version of DirectX.
2. Download and install the latest drivers for your video card.
3. Download and install the latest patch for the game.
4. Download SensorsView Pro (in my signature), and note down the temps and voltages, both when the system is idle and when it's under load. Post them here.

Post back with results and info.

There is definitely something wrong with those temperature and voltage reports. For one there is simply no way the CPU could be at 32F (0C), as well whatever is plugged for the AUX sensor. While the 3.3V is a bit low, I'm surprised there is no proper reading for the 12V (nevermind the 5VSB).

Did you end up downloading and installing your video card drivers and DirectX 9.0c (I see you listed DX9, but am wondering if you forgot to add the "c" or is the absence of one is intentional) yet?

Could you tell us what you currently have for a power supply? You can find the make and model on a giant sticker attached to it.

hockeydude, I'm willing to bet that your temps are to blame. Did the program tell you that the temps were in Ferenheit (F) or did you just put that there? Temps are usually recorded in Celcius (C). If those temps are celcius then your computer is COOKING itself to death! The CPU temp and whatever AUX is are about normal, but the rest are what could be freezing and killing your machine! Computers are built with safe guards to guard against over heating to the point of damage and yours might be doing this by restarting during 3DMark. Check to make sure all your fans are working and moving a lot of air. Add more fans to your case if necessary if you have the spots. Also, take the side off of your box and run the computer with a desk fan blowing into it and see if anything performs better. If your case can have it, one in the front for intake and the one in the rear for exhaust.

Bought a fan...blowing air into the case, still rebooting.
I checked my event log under my computer after the computer restarts and it says Event #1001 "the computer was restarted due to a bug check"
Dont know if that helps you out of if its a pretty common error...
