GTA-SA not running after instalation

wen i go to run the game, a pop up comes up and says dat it cannot find or authenticate the original copy. wat do i do?

Firstly, do you own a legal copy of the game?

Secondly, if you own a legal copy of the game, do you have the disc in the drive when you go to play the game?

i have a legal version, jus bought it yesterday, and i do have it in da drive when i try to play

Have you tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it?

when re-installing, are you doing the "typical" set-up option or are you customizing the installation?

any unofficial hack, cracks, patches, cheats, etc? I'm having a hard time with this one. The only other thing I can see that might be wrong is your optical drive is going bad and can't read the CD properly. Have you had any other issues with other games?

I'm inclined to agree with gamerman's assesment that the CD drive might be going bad. Do you have another drive you could try, or could you borrow a friend's drive?
