WoW/ZDaemon

Basically the situation is. I play WoW using a Netgear MR814 router, and at random occurences. I get disconnected. So I can't leave WoW on while I'm AFK for a couple of minuites, so it can get incredibly annoying when I need to stay online as I am in a end game dungeon group.

Also, I am an expierienced gamer at ZDaemon(Doom2 online) and I have had to stop playing it due to the lag I expierience, the thing is. The game interface freezes and my camera angle is spinning around in circles, so I cant see anyone. So every time this period ends. I have been killed.. And I've checked the intivals in which it has happened, and I have had always low ping. So I know it must be my router problem.

one thing to do is to set up a dedicated port for your games so the firewall doesn't interfere with your ping.

you need to access your router's web interface. go to start>run>type 'cmd' and hit enter. next type 'ipconfig /all' and note what IP address is stated just to the right of where it says Gateway. Then type this number into your browser and it should pop up a username/password prompt. This is where it could vary. If you have a linksys router then 'administrator' is the username and 'admin' is the password....I Think. it could also be 'admin' for both. If it's something other than linksys you'll need to consult your manual to see how to get into your web interface.

Once in there, there should be somewhere an option for 'ports' or 'dedicated ports'. That is where you need to be. Consult your manual from here to see how to dedicate a port.

yes that is what you want. But honestly from here consult your manual. I know that is what should be done, but I am unaware of how to do it. I will try to get someone from the networking section to stop by this thread.

well it turns out that they don't know how either. Best I can do is to provide you with this link:

http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Find your router on the list and follow the instructions
