Splinter cell crashes

sometimes when i play splinter cell it crashes and it gives a report like this one:

General protection fault!

what does this mean?

i have 512mb ddr 400, gainward 6600, sempron 2600+, and enermax 465 watts.

Sounds like a graphics problem.

Make sure you have the latest DirectX and the latest drivers for your video card.

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

not yet but i will re-install the game. i have the latest drivers for my video card however,it is a beta version form nvidia. should i go back to the old one?

I take it you have the beta 91.31's? If so, definitely uninstall them and install the 84.21's. You can actually get full-release 91.31's now, but they seem to be buggy, so I recommend sticking with the 84.21's.

i installed the 84.43 beta, do you think the 84.41 is a better driver? i will install the 41. thanks.

Beta drivers are versions which they haven't finished work on, so they're bound to have bugs. You're better off sticking to full-release drivers at all times. I've found the 84.21's to be very good drivers - I'm using them on my system now.
