Oblivion issues

I have a p4 2ghz 1.25mb of ram Asus p4s800d-x motherboard Geforce 6200

Every time i get close to a Oblivion gate I get a fuzzy screen sometime checkerboard effect.

I purchased everything through Tiger Direct and have replaced my video card and hard drive (purchased a bigger one) added a pci cooling fan to make sure that my video card is not overheating. I thought it might be a Direct X issue so I formatted my HD and re-installed XP pro. I do not have anything running in the background. I have the latest video card drivers and oblivion patch. Any ideas?

My card is on the supported card list and I meet all the reauirements but the third party support that handles Bathesdas support just reply with "get a new card and upgrade your system.

What detail level are you running the game at? That card will only handle very low detail settings. The Oblivion gates are the most demanding part of the game in terms of system performance, and if you have the detail level slightly too high, this is the first place where problems will show up.

also make sure you have the latest DX that just came out this month. That has actually ever so slightly increased performance for most people.
