Hello, for the past month, ive been having this problem with games such as Half Life 2, BF2, World of Warcraft and Counter Strike Source. This times vary between freezes but usually lasts for 20 seconds. I got this picture of my heat current temps:
![]() The ones that are 127 degrees celcius are nForce2 SMBus. What is this? |

Looking at the SpeedFan update history, version 4.17 "added a check to completely remove nVidia nForce2 SMBus links that are actually unused." I'm not sure if this means your 127C reading is false, so download Everest and go to Computer > Sensor to verify the temperatures.
Check your system's power requirements here and add 30% to the total to allow for PSU inefficiency (site needs javascript enabled to run the power calculator) When you replaced the heatsink did you reapply any thermal compound to the CPU? Instructions here Open up your case and post back with the amps/volts details from the label on the PSU, and the temperatures and voltage values from Everest.

Those readings look ok. Can you post a screenshot of the "black and white spots or strips blinking on the scenery and such"?

Hi,
I just came back on , saw your thread and wanted some more information. Did I miss it (I know you said a 450 Power Supply), but what brand is the power supply? Also, just for a double check for the temps, fans, and voltages, run this program and report back with readings...and, this program you can check them close to the problem. Anyway, here is the download: SensorView Pro http://www.stvsoft.com/download.php?id=122

The brand is Master Power, some PSU i like picked up at the local Comp USA. I took some more reading and got during the freeze:
CPU - 40 Celcius Sys - 45 Celcius Aux - 38 Celcius HD - 26 Celcius VCoreA - 1.41 V +3.3V - 3.25 V +5V - 4.92 V +12V - 12 V +5VSB - 4.84 V +VBAT - 3.10 V Fans: Cpu - 840 RPM Sys - 6250 RPM Aux - 1431 RPM Also i might wanna restate that there are black and white like spots blinking also. Like part of the landscape will blick white or black while moving and sometimes while standing still. |

Hi,
What a puzzle. While I think it may be the lack of enough power from the power supply because of the power hungry video card (do you by any chance have another to try???? If so, that would eliminate the video card as the problem), as Koala said, it could be many other issues. We have to assume that your sensors are accurate, but they aren't always. To rule out heat (which can cause what you are seeing), then take the side of the case off, put a fan blowing directly in there and try it and see if you still get the same problem. If you do. that would eliminate the possible heat issue in case your sensors are not reporting correctly. What one must do is a slow process of elimination by trying different things. Oh, have you tried testing each stick of memory with Memtest????

mm no, but ill dl that and try, i think its the PSU in a way because i tried the 3DMARK06 benchmark tool and during it, it turned all green and crap, while it was suppose to show guys shooting and stuff. I think its not giving my GPU enough power. Im not sure but ill try the mem test.

Hi,
My recommendation would be to go to a nearby best buy or Staples and find a 550 enermax or antec PSU and throw it in there. If it solves your problem, then you have it, and if it does not, then return it for only a small restocking fee. That way it would not cost an arm and a leg if that is not the problem. Also, do you know anyone who could loan you a video card first to see if that might be the problem?
