Cant play games online because of lag

I seem to have a problem now of not being able to play online.

I first thought it was just an issue with Battlefield 2 but its with all the games. I don't think this is related to my freezing problem I am having as they both completely different things.

Basically I can play games online but its laggy as hell. Basically I have over a thousand ping. I can access any internet fine. Go on youtube watch videos and so on. I have no problems getting on steam or joining games. But as soon as I am in a game it lags and I can no longer play. But playing single player is fine. I have checked my network settings and theres no reason from what I can see why I shouldn't be able to play.

None of this makes sense to me. I could normally play online games fine. Now I can't.

Hi.

What is your internet connection speed? Also what are your upload/download speeds? Given that it starts to lag after you get into a game, it seems most likely to simply be a bandwidth issue.

According to Speed test my download speed is 8.32Mb/s while my upload speed is 0.74MB/s. And I have a ping of 8ms.

As this happened recently my friend said it could be something i have installed recently. I will start trying with the anti-virus off and see if its that.

Go to command prompt : and write : chkdsk or chksdk C: /f

Thanks for that. Seems to of solved my issue so far. Will test it out when I can to see if it really has fixed it.
