Re: help in getting java platform to work

i went and made sure i had the latest java. then i went to the on-line game and it still won't connect. when it doesn't connect, it shows the little icon in the upper corner when a page doesn't connect on a web page. on the icon i click on it for details about not connecting. it said "load: class loader. class not found. also had "exception: java.lang. class not found exception: loader class. Does that mean anything in why it's not connecting. mary

Hi.

What game are you trying to play? Some games use different Java platforms.

Ok.

Uninstall your current Java through add/remove programs, then go here and download and install Java again. Then see if the game works.

Also, are you using a browser to play the game? If so, which one?

Re: help in getting java platform to work

I don't think so, because I just went to the site to play. the first time and downloaded java and then started playing. Is the browser up where google toolbar is, if I have it? I uninstalled the java. put the new one in which was the same one. so i went to runescape and still didn't work.

Try downloading the Windows Client from here, then see if it will work through that.

it still didn't work. my son unclick or something of having the Java toolbar. Is there anything with that, not having the toolbar. I looked in "view" and there isn't a Java toolbar installed. there's all other ones, but Java. Mary

So is the game working? If it still isn't, go here and click the drop-down box, then click Force Java. After that, click save settings. Then see if the game will run.

Re: help in getting java platform to work

It didn't work! you know where they list all the toolbars you have. well there instead a java toolbar. so stupid, I guess I'll never be able to play the game again. unless there's is a another platform that will open the game up. Is the computer missing something, got deleted. that a computer needs to run games. Mary

Try using a different browser, download and install Firefox then go to the main site and try to play from there.

Re: help in getting java platform to work

that didn't make a difference. I have Vista and it was working until now. So it's not because I have Vista. Should I try a older Java version or different new version? Mary

Re: help in getting java platform to work

Did you try running Firefox/IE as administrator ? Or compatibility for XP Service Pack 2 ? Or other?

Service Pack 2 addresses many problems with Vista including, but not limited to, security improvements, file transfer improvements and more, so it could solve your problem.

Also, in Firefox, click "Tools -> Options -> Content" then take a screenshot of the Content menu and post it here.
