[SOLVED] My xbox live not working

About 3 months ago my laptop decided very selfishly that it no longer considered my xbox a freind and started rejecting xbox live, i have a cat5e crossover ethernet cable in the back of my xbox and the other end in my laptop, all i get is a 169.254 ip and local only connection. I was on it one morning then at night i went to play and this happened and has been happening ever since, if i plug the cable straight from my router to the xbox then i can get online, but for some reason my laptop no longer allows me. I have disabled both PC Tools internet security and Windows firewall, but still no luck.

Hello and welcome to TSF

Try to connect your Xbox directly to your router, and also disconnect your laptop completely. Make sure your router hadn't gone through an update and a setting was changed.

I can connect no problem through my router, but it is my laptop i need to be able to connect too as the router is in a completely different place to where my xbox is, i always used to be able to connect through my laptop, but all of a sudden it does not allow me, no updates have been made, i went onto xbox live in the morning and the same night i couldnt get on, no changes at all.

I have it sorted. It was the EA servers they released a patch to fix it.
