Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
I host games in Warcraft 3 with the new listchecker. When they join my game I am presented with their IP adress. Every now and then I get some feeders or ******* who afk the entire time and just ruin it for everyone.
Is there a way for me to kick them from my game by blocking their ip from connecting to me? I found a command online that can block IP's from connecting to you but im not quite sure how well it will work. I'm not neccesarily looking to temp-block them but just disconnect them, so perhaps blocking and then unblocking manually? Here it is iptables -A INPUT -s 222.35.138.25/32 -j DROP *Block an IP address from connecting to a server This appends (-A) a new rule to the INPUT chain, which specifies to drop all packets from a source (-s) IP address.* Any help would be awesome Last edited by Pankie; 10-16-2009 at 10:26 AM. |

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
The problem with blocking them by IP with a rule in your IPTABLES is that home ISP providers rarely use static IP addresses.
So you're block will only be good for as long as the IP is assigned to the modem of the offending user, once they get a new IP they're right back in and on the off chance that IP that is blocked goes to someone else who tries to connect the innocent person will be blocked. I did some googling on kicking / banning in warcraft 3 and it seems there is a few options available to ban / kick players. Since I don't play Warcraft 3 I will leave the advice on how to best achieve this to another poster.

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
The effect of banning their ip temporarily is probably the best actually, I just want to remove them from my current game.
After they are removed, can I clear the ip ban list? About the other options, they involve third party programs which are a bannable offense currently. Last edited by Pankie; 10-16-2009 at 02:01 PM. |

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
ah, I got you. Force them to time out then remove the ban and let the next player in.
Seems like the game should have a built in kick option for the hosting player.

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
Check your IPTABLES rules. If you have a rule for the state that allows all "ESTABLISHED" his connection might remain in tact since there are established packets going to and from his IP address.
Make sure your block of the IP is the very first rule in your IPTABLES.

yes, iptables are only in linux.
I was under the impression you had a linux game server hosting this because you referenced IPTABLES

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
This site claims to have a ban tool.
http://elliottback.com/wp/wc3-banlis...tool-for-dota/ I am not sure that the firewall is the best place for you to be trying to kick players in your games. You need a way to kick the player from the game, and googline kicking a player in warcraft 3 returns a ton of results which means it's a common annoyance with the game. GL

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
Sounds like you need to submit a feature request to the programmers or run a linux server for the game. It's a huge oversight for a game not to have a kick/ban feature for the server creator.

Re: Blocking or Kicking ip's from connecting to your game
It's warcraft 3, super old. but there has to be a way to temporarily block an IP adress from connecting to you. or using a third party program that does not hook into wc3 to disband a connection? Isn't there.
