Xbox LIVE - IP Problems
Okay, so Thursday night I attempt to sign on to Xbox Live so that my friend can play online. It gives me and error and says it could not sign in. I decide to troubleshoot, and it comes back with "Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem."
It was working fine before then. And since then, it hasn't working. I've trouble with it in the past, and now I'm backed into a corner having to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on my Vista laptop. I have a good connection but it can't reach its full potential because of this. It was just an annoyance but now for some reason I can not sign in at all. I'm using an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. It's a router/modem combination. Before that router, I was able to use a simple Belkin gaming bridge. When I got that router, the Belkin bridge wouldn't work with it, and that's when I started using ICS. My biggest priority is to simply get back on Xbox LIVE. If possible, I'd also like some help on why I can't use my bridge anymore for a more reliable connection, or at least how I can optimize ICS usage for Xbox Live. By the way, when I press Y to check the Status codes on the Xbox Troubleshoot, it comes up with the following: Code:
W: 0000-0008 X: 4000-1001 Y: 0000-0000 Z: 0000-0000 ID: 0001-0001 |

Re: Xbox LIVE - IP Problems
I just did a test of my own to narrow down the problem. I took my Xbox to my router and set it up on that TV. I plugged the Xbox directly into the router and voila, I sign into Xbox Live. I power cycle my modem/router again and take it back to my room and try connecting through my laptop again using ICS. Nothing.
So I assume it's something to do with my configuration? |

Chat going out on Live
So I fixed my problem that I posted earlier. That Belkin Bridge starting magically working again.
However, it brought along with it a lag that is most annoying. In Party Chat on Xbox Live, at random times I just can't hear anyone. They can hear me but I have to wait around a minute or so for me to able to hear them again. Now I assume this is my NAT. I've always had problems with this, and I want to fix it. I've opened up the ports necessary for Live and turned on UPnP. What else should I do? |
