Wierd Problem with Call of Duty 4

Hey, I've got a really weird problem with Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer. My internet connection is fine. When I search for servers with no other programs running in the background, I have no problems. However, as soon as I load up Pidgin and run it in the background, I can't find any damn servers (except for 2 or 3 with extremely high ping). Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance

Alex

PS My box specs are:

AMD Phenom x4 5550 2.2 GHz
6 GB RAM
NVIDIA 9800GT
Vista x64

Hi awfulwaffle.

Please run this test and post your results.
Do any other chat/internet related programs interfere with games or just Pidgin?

Re: Wierd Problem with Call of Duty 4

Alrighty there are the results. I'm also running a program called WLAN Optimizer (without it, when Vista does it's routine check for new networks my game lags out for a few seconds). The pattern seems to be, that if I'm just running Pidgin and COD, it's OK. As soon as I run WLAN Optimizer in the background, though, the server finding issue starts.

The connection seems good. What settings do you have in WLAN Optimizer? It may be something in it that is slowing down the connection speed.
