Steam games lagging

Recently, out of no where, when I try to play some CS:Source I connect to a server and then it lags out. Later I put CS:Source into window mode to see if that would help and noticed that every time I even refresh the server list my "Wireless Network Connection 8" in my system tray at the bottom right next to the clock just shuts off and then reconnects. EVERY TIME I PRESS REFRESH ON THE CS SERVER LIST!!!!!! I press refresh, it goes out for a bit and comes back on, or i have to click "Repair".

I've read some forums and tried some stuff but nothing is helping...

Others do have this problem but no one knows the answer.

Hi and welcome to TSF!
This is only with CSS? Do you have any other games you can test your connection with?
What is your isp and internet speed test it at speedtest.net and respond back with your results as a link please.

Well, the problem is not with my ISP and my speeds are fine.

Here's the problem:

-I start up steam
-Start up CSS
-Go to the server list and hit refresh
-Then my "Wireless Network Connection 8" fails
-Repair "Wireless Network Connection 8" and proceed to refresh CSS again
-The same thing happens again

This whole error happened out of the blue and I'm not sure what to do.
I've tried putting my CSS and Steam priorities to a lower setting but that doesn't work.

I've tried starting and stopping Windows Zero Configuration but it doesn't work.

P.S.

Every single internet application works i.e. iTunes, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc. Everything but steam based internet games.

Have you tried opening ports for Steam? What is the make and model of your router?
