ps3 error connecting to server

i was wondering why my ps3 would say an error occurred connecting to server when i start up my ps3 and i have to try many times with a connection test before it finally connects... i have a fast internet and its through an ethernet cord but my wireless connection fails every time and i was told it shouldnt... why would it do this...it is really aggravating to have to do this every time and be told that there is nothing wrong

Welcome to TSF, tmobile.

Are you connecting to a modem, a router, or directly to the internet (right into the wall)?
Are you sure you set up your PS3 to connecting using your type of connection?
