Counterstrike Source Lag Issue

Hi everyone,

I have had this problem for a while, meaning months, and dont know what to do. I refresh the servers in counter strike source and it finds about 200-400. A few are under 100 ping while all others are 150+. When i choose one of the under 100 ping servers I get into the game fairly quickly, but my ping never settles. It stays between 150 and 600. My guy jerks around and other players appear, disappear, and appear again then im dead. I noticed the same thing happens with team fortress 2.(these are the only computer games i play in my free time.) When I browse the internet and download music the internet runs fine.
My internet provider is comcast and i am on a wireless connection using a linksys router. My computer specs:
-2.4 ghz quad processor
-4 GB of ram
-256 MB radeon graphics

I would appreciate any help that could be provided. Thanks guys.

Re: Counterstrike Source Lag Issue

Try connecting the computer to your router using a wired connection (an ethernet cable from your network card to the back of the router). Load up the games and see if the problem is solved. It it is then its to do with your wireless connection.

Post back with the results

Re: Counterstrike Source Lag Issue

Hey, thanks for your responses. I use the windows vista firewall and also McAfees firewall, i have turned both off and i still have the same problem. Also, my comp is upstairs and our router is downstairs, i dont have a lan cable long enough. The router is not too far away because i have full internet bars and browsing and dling works fast.

Re: Counterstrike Source Lag Issue

Maybe not intentional. They could have spyware or viruses on their PCs that could be downloading from the net flooding your connection. Ask them to scan their PCs aswell.
