Sigh.

i dont know if this is in the right place on the forums but ..

hey. well basically on the 4th-5th of Febuary this year my ping just randomly rose on ventrilo and also all of the pings that i could see on xfire cod4 servers although when i went into game my ping was fine.

my ping when i looked through xfire used to be normal e.g. 40-50
it was also 40-50 on vent. when it gets to about 5 o'clock my ping suddenly rises so that when i look through xfire my ping is 500 and on vent it is 500+ constantly which means that it is basically un-useable.

i have tried going to task manager and turning it all off and checking my ping after i turn everything off. what can i do ? i dont know what else to do.

my isp is AOL and im on vista sp1.
i have AVG as well if this is any help but i dont really know what does and doesnt help with things like this.

any help would be appreciated
kthx.

Re: Sigh.

Is it just you that is on that AOL internet connection? or is it shared throughout the household, etc? More users on can cause higher ping.

Being in Canada, we dont have it, but AOL highspeed is cable based? If so, it CAN be, if there is ALOT of people going through your local cable node, the overall speed can slow down and bottleneck a bit, can be quite common for cable users. If your on DSL, disregard the above.
