Re: Fullscreen shutdown/close NEED HELP, PLEASE!

Do you have the latest drivers and DirectX installed?

Any red or yellow flags in Device Manager?

Is your PSU suitable for your graphics card and other components?

Please post your full system specs, including the details from the PSU label.

Re: Fullscreen shutdown/close NEED HELP, PLEASE!

The PSU is the Power Supply Unit. Going from desktop mode to 3D fullscreen mode increases the graphics card's power requirements, so the PSU has to be strong enough to cope.

Remove the side panel from the case and you'll see it at the top rear with the power cable plugged into it. There will be a label on the side of the PSU giving the make/model and total watts. Post back with this.

To see your system specs, run the freeware system diagnostics tool Everest. Go to Report at the top of Everest and click Report Wizard > Hardware-related pages > Plain text. When it's finsished generating, click Save To File and post back with the text report.

To check the Device Manager for red or yellow flags, go to Start > Control Panel > System >Hardware tab.

Re: Fullscreen shutdown/close NEED HELP, PLEASE!

Some more info on problem...
I start the game (maplestory, warrock etc) and I can log in and play for about 1-5 mins but after that thats when it restarts my computer or closes the whole program.
Sometimes I get a blue screen that is telling me about the error but my monitor is still in game resolution and i cant read it - also i get something like - the computer has recovered from a serious error, when i log back in > but only sometimes it comes up.

Re: Fullscreen shutdown/close NEED HELP, PLEASE!

The Sparkle Power 300W is not one of the best quality PSUs, but should be ok for your computer which uses onboard SiS 32mb graphics. Its +12V reading (from your Everest report) is 11.78V, which is good.

If you can start fullscreen games and then they crash after a few minutes, it's probably due to overheating. Blow a can of compressed air around the motherboard card slots, CPU heatsink and all fans to remove any dust. This should be done every few weeks to keep the temperatures down. Do not use a vaccuum cleaner. The static electricity can damage the motherboard and components.

If you're using Windows XP, the latest version of DirectX is 9.0c (Nov'08). Download from here, install and reboot to complete. DirectX 10 is for Vista only.

Re: Fullscreen shutdown/close NEED HELP, PLEASE!

Thanks a lot, now that I got rid of all the dust it solved the problem! the fan was covered in a thick layer of dust (we never have cleaned our computer).
Now that it is not overheating the game works perfectly without closing or restarting my comp. thanks!
