xbox 360 wireless questions....

Hi guys and gals,
hope this is the right place for this thread....
I have a wireless router on a different floor to my xbox 360. My imac connects great in the room where my xbox is but of course xboxes aren't wireless. I could spend £60 on an adapter, but a couple of questions first.
1) Are the adapters any good? I am sure someone told me not. Anyone got experience? My wii works just fine right next to the xbox.

2) Can I use my old netgear router to connect to the new bt homehub for my xbox's connection? i.e. use the router as a wireless adapter?

I have a work laptop that I may be able to use to configure the router (guessing a mac won't be able to?)

Thanks for your help,

J

Re: xbox 360 wireless questions....

Hi J,

I use a wireless router and it works perfectly, I also have a BTHub, and they can be a bit annoying with NAT issues.
However, if you don't want to spend £60 on a wireless router, you could directly connect your 360 to your laptop and wirelessly connect to LIVE through an ICS (internet connection sharing). Google should help you with that, i'm not sure if it works with an iMac, though i'm confident it would.

Re: xbox 360 wireless questions....

Hi, thanks for that, Van (nice name by the way!).
Just to be clear, though, are you using a wireless router plugged into the xbox which then connects to your BT hub? Or do yo have the Microsoft Xbox wireless adapter? I am hoping to get a 'phone socket which is right next to my xbox working this week, though, so should be able to just ethernet right in to the BThub ('cos I will be able to move it!).

Re: xbox 360 wireless questions....

I'm using the Microsoft wireless adapater. Directly connecting your 360 into your BTHub will be the easiest configuration as it won't require you to do anything but plug n play.
