I am writing about my custom build desktop computer. I am running a wireless network, however this machine is wired.
I recently bought a copy of Hellgate London and whenever I try to connect to the multi player server i get an operation time out message. After going round and round with their support I gave up. I tried installing the patch but it gave me a "CRC failed during patch" message and had me reinstall, which only led to me getting the message again. But I got thinking and there are other various components of other programs I cannot connect to. When I open World of Warcraft Launcher, I get a a "Cannot connect to News Server" message every time. Now this is not a game issue, but I do believe it is related to the same underlying problem. My iTunes can not update my iPod software. I get a message saying, "The iPod software server could not be contacted". I am able to browse the internet just fine. I can connect to WoW just fine and play, however from time to time it will freeze up and the "wolrd" will freeze in place, almost like my network cable was unplugged while I was playing. Other machines on my network are not having any problems. My latop can view the WoW news server and updated Hellgate London. It feels like there is some port or something that is not open or working properly (coming from the guy that knows very little about this stuff ).Help! |

Re: Cannot Connect to Various functions with Games
I downloaded and then attempted to install spybot. I got an error message reading "Error sending request. The operation timed out." The installer progress said it was trying to connect to a server to get additional install files.
