Hi guys new here(lag issues)
Hello,
Hows everyone doing hoping you guys will be able to help here if i am posting this in the right spot please let me know I know this is been brought up everywhere and have tried to do some research on my own but came up empty handed This is not my regular server lag that happens once every hour or w/e this is happening non stop every 20secs at least and last about 5-20seconds if i am lucky.which is weird cause i dont see my ping jump through the roof and my cpu usage is about 50% Well first off i will start by giving my system specs GIGABYTE GA-MA78GPM-DS2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G ATX AMD Motherboard 128MB DDR3 sideport memory AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2x512KBL2Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor 4gigs(2 x 2gb) Mushkin 5-4-4-12 BFG Nvidia 8800gt 512mb 256bit graphics card Direct X 9 OCZ 650 watt powersupply Windows XP 32bit Comcast Cable Internet 6meg connection This is a brand new system just built it last week. All i have installed that would cause it to run while i am playing is AVG 8.0 which i end the processes everytime i go to join a server. Not sure what is causing me to lag so much guess I would like some help if someone can help me see if it is my ISP or my PC. Things that I have tried -Play COD4 in single player works fine- -I tried to take out a stick of memory which is 2gigs to see if my pc was trying to address memory it could not locate for any reason which did not help.- -Tried Joining a server without Punkbuster to see if that was causing my lag which i still got lag in a non PB server with no other players in it- -Browse the internet fine also tried pinging different places in CMD and dont seem to be losing any packets- -Even ran Tracert to the ip of the CODservers and i always get at least 1 request timed out within the 30hops (not sure if that matters) But from what i read it seems like that is normal- -I did run a DSL report for a speed test after i divided the download by the upload seemed like i was getting at least 6 to 7megs depending on the state i choose(not sure if i was doing that right)I will run it again and post my exact results when i get home- -Also it is not just cod4 that i am getting lag i mean its worse in cod4 than any other game but it also happens in SOF2 and BF2- So after doing all of that I am kinda at a stand still when i get home i will try updating my PB see if that helps but i really dont know what else it could be. If someone here can please help me try and tackle this problem or give me some ideas on other things i can try as this LAG spikes occur every 20seconds in COD4 and last between 5-20seconds each time. Thanks |
